Verse: Chills

Chilled
by the gelid glare
of a million stars
that float
like tiny glaciers
in the vast
ebony sky
the summer breeze
seeks refuge
in our modest bedroom
smoothing the sheets
like sand dunes
until, at last,
like a child
stirred from
a bad dream
it nestles
between us
for warmth
for reassurance
