you know
if you want

to nourish me,
lover

then my advice
is this

the way to say
I love you

is not a whisper
in the ear

say it directly
into my mouth

then seal it
with a kiss

and watch me
swallow it whole

but you
should know

once you
feed me love

I will only ask
for more

my heart
is a box
of plagues

a barbed assortment
of impossible
and unrequited
yearning

so much so
that I never
let it out

so that
