Verse: Preserves

This
is an old recipe
that has never
failed me

all you need
is a Mason jar

place it
in a window sill
with good light exposure

leave it
for a week
or more
until it is
overflowing
with fresh
tender sunlight

wipe off
the excess
seal it
and let stand
in a dark place
so it will cool
and ripen

serve it
with toast
pour it
on your cereal
or add it
to anything
you love.
